Adios a un grande, Gary Neville anuncia su retiro del futbol

El dia de hoy marca el retiro de uno de los mas grandes jugadores en la historia del United, quiza no sera recordado por su habilidad futbolistica como Giggs o Scholes pero el fue uno de los pilares de la era Ferguson, su determinacion y energia seran extrañadas en la cancha, su amor incondicional por el United pocos ahora lo comparten un Red Devil 100%.

Durante su excelente carrera gano todo con el United 8 Premier, 3 FA Cup, 2 Carling Cup 1 Champions League 1 Intercontinental y un Mundial de Clubes

Obviously I am disappointed that my playing days are at an end, however it comes to us all, and it's knowing when that time is and forall, and it's knowing when that time is and for me that time is now. I have played in the most incredible football teams, playing with some of the best players in the world as well as against them and I have been lucky to have been part of the team's achievements and the club's great success.

Seguramente Gary no dejara el club y lo tendremos muy pronto como entrenador.

Grande Neville

Bueno, creo que ha tomado la decisión correcta. Su nivel ahora no estaba bien y no le hacia un bien a nadie jugando. Por otro lado, a pesar de ser un jugador no execivamente destacable ( tan solo brillo por encima de todos en el año 2007-2008), se le ha de reconocer ser un jugador de equipo. Importantisimo para el club y desde luego un gran capitan. Su profesionalidad ha sido impecable y sus ganas de jugar y de hacer del united un gran club le habalan.
En fin, tan solo queda ver que posición ocupa dentro del club ahora, no me extrañaría que se fuese a entrenar a los reservas, y que dentro de un par de años esté entre las apuestas para substituir a Ferguson. Nevile, por lo menos, ya cuenta con un conocimiento del united que poca gente puede ni imaginarse.

En sus buenos tiempos fue un gran lateral, evidentemente tantas lesiones al final de su carrera le han pasado factura y su nivel no era el de antes. Aun asi, ha puesto su granito de arena a que Rafael sea mejor jugador y el alumno va a ser mejor que el profesor sin ninguna dudas. Tena un gran espiritu competitivo y un fiel servidor del United, cosa que es de agradecer en los tiempos que corren. Gracias Gary por tu implicacion, sentimiento y trabajo por el United.

After Gary Neville’s retirement, Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that Manchester United will be working out a way to keep Neville on United’s books after his contract expires this summer.

“Gary will remain with the team,” said Ferguson. “He will train whenever he wants. The next step forward for our club is to retain Gary in a capacity in which he will be satisfied. That’s because I feel his contribution and what he can contribute in future years is about what we are. We are a family club and he has been part of that. He has created that family atmosphere in the dressing room time and time again over the years.”

Ferguson has also hinted that Neville is likely to be working with our Reserve and youth teams.

“I do think he has a role to play as a coach, I really do, particularly with the young players,” he continued. “Gary has been a great example to the young players in the professional side of it. But on the other side, the academy, we should have that presence and coaching ability Gary has. He is taking his badges. He is ready to go into coaching and we will just find a role for him.”

Jamie Carragher, who has already revealed what a massive fan of Sir Alex Ferguson he is, also has very kind words for Gary Neville.

“For me he’s the best full-back the Premier League’s had,” said Carragher. “And also just behind David Beckham probably one of the best crossers of the ball we’ve seen. For me he’s the best full-back the Premier League’s had. People always talk about the rivalry between Liverpool and Man United and of course it exists. We want to beat them and they want to beat us but I have great respect for Man United as a club and I hope that’s vice versa. We’re two of the most successful teams, two of the biggest teams in the world, and for me Gary Neville’s been one of the main reasons why that’s happened. A great player, great pro and to play at that level for so long is a fantastic achievement so I take my hat off to him.”

Arsene Wenger has sung the praises of Gary Neville after the announcement of his retirement yesterday, claiming that his motivation sets him apart from others and that players should look to him as a example for what they can achieve.

“A huge career and fantastic achievements, that is what he has done,” said Wenger. “I respect a lot what he has done because he was certainly not one of the most talented players in the league but what he has achieved is consistency. His record is down to intelligence and motivation – he is an example to players who are maybe less gifted than the Giggs and the Beckhams but still make a fantastic career because they are intelligent and highly-motivated. They deserve a great credit. He was the best English right back, certainly – if you look at his record, he has won absolutely everything and the number of games he has played, he is without a doubt the best.”

pff cuando leí esta noticia se me plantó un lagrimón... sin dudas un simbolo del united aunque ya no estaba en su mejor nivel.
el united es su casa y él va a seguir vinculado a ella

Ayer se vio a Gary con la hinchada, jejej nada de estar en el palco o en sitios vip, el tio pidió ir donde estaban los hinchas del united. Si entrais en red cafe hay un post con un gif sobre ese momento.

Nunca te olvidaremos leyenda, y como dicen aqui, yo tambien solo he visto un 2 en lo que llevo siguiendo al United.

No queda mas que agradecer todos los momentos que nos ha dado, y no es un adios, estoy seguro que lo veremos en la directiva del club.

Que lastima que se retiren jugadores asi, los Garys, los Giggs, los Scholes son de otro planeta.

Asi como hay una estatua de charlton, best y law, quisiera ver en el futuro una en donde esten Gary,Giggs y Scholes.

Simplemente, uno de mis jugadores preferidos por su amor al club. Nadie querrá más al United que Gary.

El club ha anunciado que organizara un partido testimonial para Gary el dia 24 de Mayo contra la Juventus, ese sera el ultimo partido que juegue Gary con la camiseta del United
