Today's newspapers have reported that Sunderland have made enquiries about the official worlds tallest professional football player. Valencia's striker Nikola Ziqic, has caught the eye of new manager Steve Bruce, the striker spent some of last season on loan to Spanish team Racing de Santander in which he scored 13 goals in 19 games.

Ziqic stands at a towering 6.8" one inch taller than Portsmouth's Peter Crouch, the giant striker has made no secret of his intent to leave Valenca and ply his trade against some of the best teams in the world, the premiership would be exactly what he's looking for.

No me gustaria verlo aqui solo por una cosa:el año pasado se decidió jugar bien al futbol,siempre a ras del cesped,con jugadores de calidad jugando en corto y de primeras...........con la marcha de Cisse y la llegada de Zigic quizas se opte por tirar por el camino facil y volver a ser ese equipo de pelotazo va pelotazo viene.

De todas formas me parece un buen jugador.

Al pobre Zigic lo echaron del Valencia practicamente sin darle chances,y en el Racing se convirtió en pieza fundamental,marcado unos cuantos goles,varios decisivos en las victorias...puede ser buen delantero en equipo pequeño

Wigan Athletic’s Lee Cattermole is top of new Sunderland manager Steve Bruce's wish-list and could make the move to the Black Cats this summer, according to The Sun.

After signing the midfielder from Middlesbrough a year ago for £3.5m, Bruce is ready to pay the same amount to lure him back to the north east.

Sunderland narrowly avoided relegation last year, and after the departure of caretaker manager Ricky Sbragia, Steve Bruce is beginning to shake up his predecessor's squad.

With Roberto Martinez likely to become Wigan manager in the coming days, he may be persuaded to make an instant sale, aiding him to sign his own players.

Cattermole has made seven England U-21 appearances to date, racking up over 100 appearances at club level. This gives him a wealth of experience for a 21-year-old, which may be vital should Sunderland find themselves in another relegation battle next season.

Titus Bramble To Follow Steve Bruce To Sunderland

The burly defender would be returning to the North East as a whole new man...

Steve Bruce has reportedly made one of his first objectives as the new Sunderland boss to take Titus Bramble with him from Wigan.

Such a report would have provoked scowls of derision from Black Cats fans were this just last summer, but the 27-year-old, the butt of so many jokes during his dark days at Newcastle, looked a completely different player under the tutelage of one of the most reliable defenders Manchester United ever had.

Since moving to Wigan in June, 2007, Bramble stupefied the skeptics by producing one rock-solid performance after another, earning him the distinction of the Latics' Player of the Year as voted by the fans and fellow players, as well as the captain's armband.

According to News of the World, Sunderland are preparing to make a bid for Bramble, which both player and club would find hard to turn down.

Bueno,pues ya es casi seguro que Greg Halford se quedará en el Sunderland la proxima temporada despues de dos cesiones consecutivas,me parece una decision acertadisima,la temporada pasada se salio por completo con los Blades completando la que quizas a sido su mejor temporada como profesional,es un tipo muy fisico,veloz,disciplinado no excento de tecnica y que cuando juega arriba ve puerta con facilidad.

Ademas,de esa forma el bueno de Collins pasará a ocupar plaza de Central oficial,McCartney será el Right-Back titular y Halford será su suplente y ocasionalmente titular,aunque tambien se le podria considerar suplente de Kieran,ya que actua en numerosas ocasiones de Right-winger.

A ver que tal le va a Greg.

Es increíble en la cantidad de equipos que ha estado; algunos de nivél. Y con sus lagunas mentales lo siguen fichando.

Si bien Titus Bramble ha tenido gravísimos errores a lo largo de su carrera que costaron goles y derrotas a sus equipos, en la pasada temporada creo que mejoró.. en los partidos que lo vi no falló y terminó estando como media temporada en mi fantasy en el que en reiteradas oportunidades sumó valla invicta asi que... tan malo no creo que sea..

Es que no es un mal central ni mucho menos,lo malo es que de vez en cuando tiene unas lagunas mentales muy grandes y le suelen costar goles a su equipo,pero cuando esta concentrado es un buen central,contundente y que sabe sacar bien el balon.Lo malo es que al bueno de Titus se le suele conocer por sus fallos puntuales y entonces se tiende a decir que es un mal central,pero por mi parte no estoy de acuerdo con ello.

De hecho no me importaria que viniera al Sunderland este verano.

Según informa el 'Northern Eco', el Sunderland, Stoke City y Tottenham están tras los pasos de Richard Dunne, jugador del Manchester City.

Los tres equipos tienen como principal objetivo reforzar sus defensas y el conjunto de Eastlands estaría dispuesto a vender al internacional irlandés en el caso de que antes consigan un refuerzo de garantías.

Hay dos rumores que no me estan gustando demasiado en estos momentos,uno es la posible baja de Stokes al Hibernian,personalmente confio en este chico,cada vez que lo he visto jugar me a transmitido algo,esperemos que sean rumores y ya está.

Sunderland have reportedly turned their attention to Qatar-based striker Lomana LuaLua in their search for a suitable strike-partner for Kenwyne Jones.

According to News of the World, new Black Cats boss Steve Bruce is a long-time admirer of the Congolese striker, who spent seven years in England’s top-flight with Newcastle United and Portsmouth, before embarking on a career in Greece with Olympiacos en route to Qatari club Al-Arabi.

The 28-year-old has dropped some heavy hints that he only sees Al-Arabi as a stopover, and that a return to the Premier League is something which holds great appeal to him.

Writing in his diary for footballers' website Icons last August, Lua Lua revealed: “I want to spend a couple of years out in Qatar. After that, who knows what the future will bring. I wouldn’t rule out a move to the Premiership.

“I would be able to return no problem. The Premiership is another level but I played there for seven years. As long as I've got my fitness I could go back at any time."

There was no mention in News of the World over what kind of offer Sunderland have in mind, assuming that they do in fact have a serious interest in him.

The two defenders are likely to be shipped out as Steve Bruce looks to overhaul the Sunderland defence...

Defenders Nyron Nosworthy and Danny Collins could both be shipped out of Sunderland this summer.

It is no secret Steve Bruce is after new central defenders, with frequent rumours linking Sunderland with Manchester City's Richard Dunne, Wigan Athletic's Titus Bramble and Portsmouth's Sylvain Distin.

Both Calum Davenport and Tal Ben Haim were brought in on loan last season, but according to a report in The Journal, neither will be signed on a permanent basis.

The north east-based paper also claims that Nyron Nosworthy and Danny Collins may have to consider their futures if Bruce lands another defender. With Anton Ferdinand fairly certain of a first-team place next year, the addition of a multimillion pound signing would put Nosworthy and Collins further down the pecking order.

Collins has survived a number of managerial changes at the Stadium of Light and may accept a fringe role with the Black Cats.

Nosworthy's future is less certain, as he remains a bit-part and injury-prone player, despite his status as a fans' favourite. It is likely that, upon the first defensive addition this summer, he will quickly be shown the door.

Sunderland Join Race For Tottenham Hotspur's Tom Huddlestone

The Black Cats could be lining up the stocky midfield man...

Sunderland are rumoured to be ready to join the race to sign Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tom Huddlestone this summer.

The Northern Echo understands newly-appointed Black Cats manager Steve Bruce is keen on the England Under-21 international, who is also wanted by Fulham and Aston Villa.

Huddlestone made 22 first-team appearances for Spurs last season and is believed to be desperate for a regular starting place, with the arrival of Wilson Palacios at White Hart Lane in January adding further competition for his position.

The 22-year-old could end Bruce's search for a central midfielder, though Villa could be the more likely destination for Huddlestone.

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has been linked with approaches for a number of Villa players, including Ashley Young, Nigel Reo-Coker and John Carew.

Villa boss Martin O'Neill might be tempted by a deal involving Huddlestone after selling Gareth Barry to Manchester City for £12 million this summer.

Huddlestone has been an unused member of Fabio Capello's England squad in the past.

Sunderland are also believed to be lining up Spurs duo Darren Bent and Didier Zokora.

Ex-Newcastle United Winger Peter Lovenkrands Fancies Sunderland Contract

The Danish international is keen to stay in the north east.

Danish winger Peter Lovenkrands is keen on a move to Sunderland.

The former Rangers wideman spent the second half of last season on loan at Newcastle United, but he was released after the relegated club decided not to renew his contract.

Lovenkrands is reportedly not short of suitors, but Sky Sports revealed he is keen to stay in the north east and join Newcastle's fierce rivals.

"Sunderland is certainly an interesting club. The city is near Newcastle, where we have settled fine and it would be attractive to stay in northern England," he said.

The 29-year-old was keen to keep his options open, saying, "I would not mind to continue to play in England and particularly in the Premier League."

Lovenkrands scored three goals in just 12 appearances for Newcastle after joining on a free transfer from German side Schalke 04 in January.

Manchester United youngster Fraizer Campbell is set to join Sunderland, according to the Sunday Mirror.

The British tabloid claims that Black Cats boss Steve Bruce will sign the youngster when he returns from Sweden, where he is currently part of the England squad participating in the U21 European Championships.

The 21-year-old joined Manchester United as a 16-year-old and despite impressing for the reserves, has failed to make the grade at Old Trafford.

He spent last season on loan at Tottenham Hotspur but made only ten appearance for the Lilywhites, scoring once.

Hull City had appeared to be favourites to sign the striker, yet the Sunday Mirror claims that he will now move to Sunderland for a fee in the region of £7 million.

Campbell will sit out tomorrow’s final of the U21 European Championships after having been sent off in England’s dramatic semi-final win over Sweden.

The striker came on as a second half substitute for Gabriel Agbonlahor but was dismissed after picking up two yellow cards and will now be suspended for the game against Germany on Monday night.

West Ham United are reportedly hoping to bring former defender Anton Ferdinand back to Upton Park.

The News of the World claims that the centre-back is not part of new Sunderland manager Steve Bruce’s plans at the Stadium of Light and will be off-loaded this summer.

The report goes on to say that the Hammers have been alerted to this news and are keen on bringing Ferdinand back to East London.

Ferdinand came through the ranks at Upton Park but moved to Sunderland in 2008 for £8 million.

The defender was a virtual ever present for the Black Cats last season, making 31 Premier League appearances as Sunderland successfully battled relegation.

Yet, despite this, he has repeatedly been linked with a move away from the club, with Fulham also thought to be interested in signing the 24-year-old.

However, now Gianfranco Zola is reportedly set to tempt Bruce with a £2 million bid for the centre-back.
